Yes, I am a self proclaimed GEEK.  I became obsessed with Star Wars in 1977 as did almost every other 5 year old but did not realize how deep this obsession was until the spring of 2005.  I went to my first Star Wars Convention and saw several more people who were just like me, only with money.  This means that they had really (I mean REALLY) awesome costumes.  Since then, I have learned how to sew, learned about fabrics, and created 4 costumes - 2 for me, and 1 for each daughter.

I am a Jedi Knight and a Sith Lord, so I guess you could say I have found my own personal balance.  I am a member of all 3 Star Wars costuming groups.

The 501st Legion is the world's premier Star Wars costuming group.  They are focused on the characters that are considered to be the "bad guys" - The Empire, bounty hunters, creatures.  They have been acknowledged by Lucasfilm and routinely work with Lucasfilm to promote Star Wars related events.  They also work to raise money for charities, march in parades, etc.

The Rebel Legion is like the 501st, but only for the "good guys" - Rebels, Jedi, X-wing pilots, etc.

The Jedi Assembly is like the other, but only for Jedi costumes.

My regular world job is to teach 8th Grade Science.  That by itself should let you know that I'm a little off center to begin with.  The topics I teach are scientific inquiry, Chemistry, Genetics, Physics, and Astronomy.  Let us not forget that I also, and more importantly, do my best to teach my students how to think for themselves and how to be respectful, responsible citizens.

On a personal note, I achieved all of my goals by the time I was 31.  I have been married to the most wonderful of ladies for over 12 years and we have two extremely beautiful and utterly amazing daughters.  I have successfully brainwashed the older one into loving Star Wars as much as I.  The younger one is definitely the quintessential girl - she loves Barbie and princesses.
